Geocomposite clay liners (CGLs) provide very low hydraulic conductivity, consisting of sodium bentonite fixed between a fabric or geomembrane liners. Sodium bentonite naturally swells when in contact with moisture providing self-healing characteristics useful in applications where liquid containment is critical.
Geocomposite clay liners are most commonly used in place of earthen compacted clay and in combination with geomembrane and other geosynthetics.
